Importance of Community Wellness

SPECTRUM Therapy is committed to improving the quality of life for central Virginia residents. We augment our traditional rehabilitation services with "well-care" services that include Fitness, Education & Prevention, and early detection programs. We believe in these programs to improve the overall health of our local population.

Medical Fitness Division

Our staff believes strongly in the health benefits of a regular exercise program in preventing new and recurrent musculoskeletal ailments. We also believe that regular exercise would help our patients recover faster and restore them to a better quality of life. Supervised medical fitness is available at all clinic loactions following the patient's course of physical therapy treatment.

Screenings

Part of staying well is Early Detection of any condition or ailment. We provide a variety of screenings to local community groups, senior centers, cardiac rehab facilities, high school athletes, and fitness centers.

Falls Prevention

Our physical therapists go to senior centers and other facilities in Central Virginia to guide you and your friends through a self-assessment of your risks for falling. Usually 50 % of participants find that they are at risk for losing their balance and sustaining a fall. We'll help you understand what these risks mean, how you can discuss these risks with your doctor and what you can do to reduce your risks. Contact Tom Boeke, PT for more information at (434) 295-6515 or e-mail him at tboeke@spectrumtherapy.com

Injury Screenings

SPECTRUM Therapy brings its therapists, along with local physicians, to some locations to provide brief screenings for minor musculoskeletal injuries or conditions. We realize that not everyone finds the time to go see their physician when they develop a nagging, chronic discomfort. Our goal is to offer our services in a proactive manner for those who do not want to stop exercising. We offer screenings to cardiac rehab facilities as well as to all health and fitness facilities. The screening includes a 20 - 30 minute assessment by the physician and therapist, including advice about the condition and a couple of exercises specific for the ailment. To schedule a screening or for more information, contact Tom Boeke at (434) 295-6515, or e-mail him at tboeke@spectrumtherapy.com
